The idea started with the desire to make a low-cost easy chair. Using skateboards for the majority of the structure, the price could be reduced significantly. The objective was making them unrecognisable so the chair wouldn’t have a street connotation. Therefore they’re padded and upholstered in Kvadrat to result in a luxurious and tactile seat.

The marquetry project, focuses on how to use wood in a contemporary and graphical way.
Marquetry is the art of covering a structural carcass with veneer forming decorative patterns, or figurative designs.
Techniques of wood marquetry were developed in Antwerp and other Flemish centres of art and luxury products during the early 17th century. The dawn of the industrial revolution signalled more or less the end for marquetry and, slowly, the technique faded away. This project hopes to restore some of that lost glory because, thanks to true craftsmanship, marquetry gives a product a luxurious design and a human touch.
The pattern used on this cabinet is the necker cube pattern, it was already used in ancient Greek times and is still valid.
The legs are bent solid steel with a nickel coating.

AMP is a universal active speaker for Ipod or laptops. Active speakers don’t need an external amplifier as the amplification happens inside. So all you need to do, is hook it up to a music source and you’re set. The AMP refers to the time before transistor radios. At the time, radios looked like giant pieces of furniture, as it took a lot of space to put all the technology needed. Nowadays, because of innovations like the transistor, music equipment has become something that is sold as boxes meant to be hidden. The AMP however doesn’t hide its true nature.
The AMP is equipped with a mosfet amplifier and a 3-way speaker cone-set. The audio jack ensures the freedom to connect any portable music device whatsoever.

The Flusso chair is made from polypropylene with added glass-fibre. The legs contain a bent steel rod, which is snapped-in. This is needed to provide the necessary strength a sled-chair requires. This combination results in a chair with a nice flow and a minimal appearance.

The Triangulo Chair has a construction which is entirely made from bent plywood panels, using plywood for all its wonderful features. The  shell and the legs exploit it’s stiffness, while the spine delivers just enough flexibility because of he leverage forces it endures. The pillow is made from italian Analine leather.
A small production is planned for april 2009.

The Cristal Cabinet was made in a limited edition by Brazilian furniture manufacturer Brastilo. Since the company has the ability to work with solid wood, I chose for a 3D sculpted tile which is repeated on the front of the cabinet.
